About the Coalition for Fertility
The Coalition for Fertility is a joint European advocacy initiative coordinated by Fertility Europe and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). It brings together a diverse alliance of civil society organisations, patient groups, healthcare professionals, and policy stakeholders committed to advancing comprehensive and inclusive fertility policies across Europe.

Why the Coalition Was Established
The Coalition was established in response to the growing challenges of infertility and involuntary childlessness, which affect millions of people across Europe and have significant social, economic, and health implications. By uniting expertise and perspectives from multiple sectors, the initiative promotes a shared vision: enabling everyone to build the family they desire, free from discrimination or structural barriers.
A Rights-Based Approach to Fertility
At the core of the Coalition’s work is a rights-based approach to fertility, placing reproductive autonomy, equity, and social justice at the centre of policymaking. It advocates for approaching fertility as an issue influenced not only by healthcare systems but also by wider socio-economic, environmental, and educational factors.

Key Priorities
Key priorities of the Coalition include ensuring universal and equitable access to fertility care, improving education and public information on fertility and reproductive health, addressing the mental health impact of involuntary childlessness, and supporting marginalised and underserved populations. The Coalition also works to raise awareness among policymakers and contribute to evidence-based policy solutions that reflect the complexity of fertility challenges in modern Europe.
Policy Impact and Advocacy Work
Through joint statements, policy recommendations, and stakeholder engagement, the Coalition for Fertility plays a central role in shaping a more inclusive and supportive policy environment—where the right to found a family is recognised and effectively implemented for all.
